About Da Noses
Nose artist 40ozChris formed “Da Noses” with Mackdread just before Digital Underground was to perform at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California on August 2, 1997.
On that day, the duo first adorned nose-and-glasses combos designed by 40ozChris in homage to their doowutchyalike mentor, the original big nosed rapper, Humpty Hump. The audience’s delighted reaction to the two outlandish “Humpty’s” interacting with the crowd did not go unnoticed by the band.
After the show, Shock G and Money B invited the two nose wearing partiers to become “DU’s official hype squad,” with a mission to “flip and trip and let it all hang out” with fellow Digi’s on and off stage at upcoming shows. A third member, Porkchop, was later added to Da Noses, creating a trio of what Shock G calls “Humpty’s cousins,” that can still be found acting a fool, tipping Hennessy with fellow fans, and of course sporting new schnoz’s designed by 40ozChris at Digital Underground shows across the country.
